Arctic Coast Guard Seminar 4-5th April 2019 – Call for Abstracts

04.12.2018

Background of the seminar:
Due to its remoteness, low temperatures, uncertain ice and weather conditions and lack of infrastructure, the Arctic region is a risky and highly complex area for carrying out coast guard functions. International cooperation, technological innovations and sharing of best practices are therefore vital in order for authorities to be able to safely and efficiently carry out coast guard duties in the Arctic. With this background, the Arctic Coast Guard Seminar 2019 aims to gather experts from all over the world to present and discuss issues related to different aspects of coast guard functions in the Arctic region.

The seminar is closely connected to the Finnish Chairmanship of the Arctic Coast Guard Forum (ACGF), and it is supported by the SARC project – Developing Arctic Maritime Safety Cooperation – coordinated by the Finnish Border Guard. The SARC project is co-funded by the Cooperation Fund for the Baltic Sea, Barents Sea and Nordic Region of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
