The objective of the ACGF organized meeting was to initiate the planning of the ACGF Live Exercise 2019, to conduct a Table Top Exercise and to discuss cooperation in the field of SAR education specific to the Arctic area.

The first week of November 2017 was a big week for the Arctic states Coast Guards, as two simultaneous meetings took place in Turku, Finland. Both Experts of the Arctic Coast Guard Forum (ACGF) and Directors of the Arctic states Rescue Coordination Centers gathered to discuss issues related to Search and Rescue cooperation in the highly complex area of the Arctic.

The Arctic Guardian exercise focused on developing practical cooperation among the ACGF's Coast Guard functions. The exercise resulted in valuable lessons learned that will actively be used in the planning of future joint exercises.

The ACGF will arrange its first operative Search and Rescue Exercise Arctic Guardian 2017 on 05-08 September 2017 in order to develop and enhance cross national collaboration and demonstrate the member states ability to conduct joint search and rescue operations in the Arctic.

The Final Planning Conference of the Arctic Coast Guard Forum's first operational exercise was held in Reykjavik, Iceland.
