The ACGF Members gathered in Turku to train practical level cooperation in a simulator exercise. In the exercise organized in Aboa Mare Training Center on Monday 5 March, focus was placed on developing joint standards of procedure in international search and rescue missions. Software of the Finnish company Fleetrange was used to increase situational awareness of the participating units during the exercise. Furthermore, Laurea University of Applied Sciences conducted an evaluation of the exercise, with the focus on developing the Finnish Border Guard's internal training procedures and also making the ACGF cooperation more efficient in the future.
The simulator exercise consisted of two different scenarios that focused on the different roles of participating SAR units. The simulator exercise is closely connected to the preparations leading up to the Arctic Coast Guard Forum’s next joint live exercise, taking place in Finland in the spring of 2019.
